City Info: Sa Pa

overview     attractions     restaurants     [ hotels ]

Sa Pa is filled to the brim with an array of hotels: small, family-run guest houses to full-service spas. Most tours out of Ha Noi will assign you to a hotel, so you won't have much (or even, any) choice. You can do the trip yourself, without a package tour, but make reservations before you arrive. Sa Pa is very popular during the summer months and many, if not most will be completely booked. Our tour put us at the Sa Pa Summit Hotel. If you stayed elsewhere, we'd love to hear about your experience.

Sa Pa Summit Hotel

Thac Bac Road
We stayed just one night here (part of a two-day package) and while none of us were overly impressed with it, the hotel served us well enough. We were provided a double and a twin for the three of us, with an excellent view of the surrounding mountains. It's well worth asking for a room with a view; even in the fog and rain, the mountains are better to look at than the neighbor's driveway. The bathroom had a tub, but it had no way to stop it up, so the kids were disappointed at the inability to take a bath (versus a shower). Downstairs (all the way down four stories) is the restaurant which served adequate breakfast of bread with eggs or pho, but milk and orange juice were each 15,000VND extra. It's child-friendly and, thankfully if you've got loud toddlers, can get loud enough with just the adults talking. Fruit plates were available for dessert and they made accomodations for my kids when they wanted hot Milo outside of assigned meal times.
